Spells:

         Episky - Episky -  Gwendolen has been focusing on healing spells since she started using magic. Episky is the latest healing spell that Gwen has learned, and she has also mastered easier healing spells (like Ferula).

         Obliteration charm - nonverbal - This spell removes things so that others don't see them. This is good for hiding tracks and keeping things clean.

         Stunning - stupefy, checui, or Musphasqa - Gwendolen is not a fighter, but a simple yet effective dueling spell could very well come in handy.  

         Summoning - accio, invito, yaoqing- A very handy spell. Gwendolen isn't very lazy, but when solving a problem, especially a medical one, summoning objects quickly is very useful.

Personality: 

When someone meets Gwendolen they might wonder why she isn't a Ravenclaw. To be honest, which Gwen is, she could have worked in Ravenclaw. Smart, focused, organized, curious, and a hardworking perfectionist, Gwen has many qualities of the wisest house. But at the same time, Gwendolen tries her best even if it isn't top notch. It isn't the result that impresses her, unless it makes another person happy. Gwendolen loves to help and be there for people. She is responsible and a determined girl who always tries to please people. But be careful, she can be bossy when she is working.

With her background being what it is, Gwen learned to be forgiving and patient. She is very patient when working with her dad. Gwendolen is loyal to both her dream of being a healer and to people. She would never turn her back on you. At the same time, Gwendolen is a private person. When she first meets someone she can be very untrusting and in general Gwen is an introvert and very independent. 

Gwendolen is very family-oriented. She is protective and would do anything for her siblings. Well, almost everything. She is a big optimist and dreamer. This also leads her to be ambitious. She doesn't usually show it though because Gwendolen is very mature, which isn't always a good thing. Sometimes Gwen isn't on the same level as her friends, doesn't act her age, and even becomes friends with adults. She is also very observant. Gwen has a hard time not getting jealous, is sometimes not open to new ideas, and sometimes thinks highly of herself. Gwen also prides herself in being honest, but sometimes she is too honest. Brutally honest. Even though she has flaws, Gwen tries really hard to help people and live up to expectations.

Likes: fantasy, realistic fiction, and medical books, animals, nature, quidditch (chaser), helping others, learning, being with her siblings or other younger kids, board games, impressing her dad, nectarines, brownies, the color magenta, doing hair.....and more.

Dislikes: snakes, the cold, useless noise and wastes of time, roadblocks, rude people, people who make assumptions, sports and science-fiction books, betting, peaches, chocolate, the color red, and more.

Background: 

Being in a half magical and half muggle family was difficult. Even though her father didn't mind it when they got married, he was against raising the children with magic. As a compromise, every Saturday morning from the age of five Gwen took mother-daughter walks with her mom and learned about magic through those walks. Her father was visibly unhappy with the compromise, but he never said anything about it in front of the children. Eventually, when her younger brother, Brian, and then her younger sister, Cordelia, turned five, they started having walks with their mother as well. 

As a child Gwendolen and her brother used to play 'Doctor' very often with their father's equipment. Gwen loved the games and decided at the age of seven that she wanted to be a doctor. By this point Cordelia was two years old and idolized Gwendolen. One day when only the babysitter was home, Cordelia tried to climb the ladder of the bunk bed to visit Gwen. The toddler fell and started crying "Gwen Gwen". Gwendolen jumped down and healed her little sister's bruise. Amazed that she had done it, Gwen told her mother on the next Saturday walk. Her mother was so proud and gave Gwen vague answers of how she had healed Cordelia. Loving the feeling, Gwen told her parents that she would be a healer instead. 

Gwendolen was so in love with the idea of being a healer that she would injure herself and her siblings so that she could practice healing. The games that they would play shifted from 'Doctor' to various forms of 'Rescue'. Usually Cordelia was in some form of danger so Brian would save her, but one of them would still end up injured and Gwen had to heal them. 

When Gwendolen wasn't playing with her siblings or learning about magic with her mom, she was usually studying for school or reading for fun. Gwen also loved taking the responsibility of helping around the house. She had a few friends from school who understood her, but many didn't like how she was always reading and so involved in her work. Gwendolen loved helping her classmates who didn't understand certain concepts, but although they appreciated her help, many of them did not interact with her outside of school because she was painfully honest about why they didn't understand the material. 

Gwendolen also tried to develop a stronger relationship with her dad. He loved his firstborn child, and they had been close when she was younger, but as she grew to love her magic more and more, her father kept his distance. Gwen tried so hard to get his attention. At family card or board game nights she would make complex strategies that she knew he would be proud of. She also always tried her best in school and got straight As. 

When Gwen got the letter for Hogwarts her father was hesitant. He wanted to send her to a boarding school in America so that one day she could go to Harvard and then medical school. Her mother insisted. Although Gwen never figured out how her mom won the battle so easily, Gwen was sent to Hogwarts. 

Gwen tried her best to make her parents proud. She told the sorting hat that she wanted to be in Ravenclaw to make her father proud, but she still wanted to be where she would make friends. The sorting hat said that her smart mind would be a great addition to Ravenclaw, but ultimately her personality was one of a Puff. Still, Gwendolen did well in her classes and her father was proud of his intelligent daughter. Gwen began to think that maybe he wouldn't be so against Hogwarts afterall.

But he was. No science class? No math? Her mom told him that there was Potions, but that wasn't good enough. She said that Gwen would take Arithmancy when she was old enough. Still, Gwen spent vacations studying muggle studies online. She pushed herself and was soon taking advanced STEM courses every break instead of playing quidditch or being with friends. But if it meant she could go to Hogwarts, Gwen did it. 

Gwendolen tried hard to make friends. Like always, she was a private person, but being in a world where she was understood made friendship making not impossible. Gwen made friends and had fun times in a boarding school.

One of her 'friends' was Madam Pomphrey. Gwendolen would often go to the hospital wing and ask Madam Pomphrey if she needed help. Her help was rarely accepted bc she was a student, but the two got on friendly terms.

Gwendolen's love of healing didn't stop there. When fights broke out in the hall, which they often did, she used to offer to heal people. Some teachers would give her trouble saying that she was part of the fight, and some students were rude, so she stopped. 

Gwendolen still loves Hogwarts and is excited for her fourth year.
